Drain Cleaning in Arvada, CO

Clearing the clog is easy. Figuring out why the same drain backs up every few months is the part worth paying for.

Most drain calls in Arvada are one of a few things: a kitchen line packed with grease and food, a laundry standpipe fighting lint and detergent scum, a slow tub full of hair and soap, or a main-line backup that shows up at the lowest drain in the house. Each clears a little differently, and each has a reason it happened.

We clear the blockage and get the drain running, but the useful step is what comes after. If a drain has clogged more than once, snaking it a third time is treating a symptom. We look at whether the real cause is grease buildup, a belly in the line, roots, or a fixture that was never vented right.

Kitchen, laundry and bath drains each fail their own way

Kitchen lines clog with grease that cooled and hardened on the pipe wall, narrowing it until food scraps bridge across and stop everything. Cabling clears the plug, but grease reforms, which is why a kitchen line that clogs on a schedule is usually a jetting candidate rather than a repeat snake job.

Laundry standpipes deal with lint and detergent scum that coat the line, and older homes often run that discharge into an undersized or partly blocked branch. Tub and shower drains are almost always hair bound in soap, cleared at the stopper and down the trap arm. Matching the tool to the fixture is half of doing it right.

When a clog is really a main-line problem

There is a clear tell that a clog is bigger than one fixture: when the lowest drains in the house, a basement floor drain or a first-floor toilet, back up together, or when running the washer makes the shower gurgle. That points at the main line to the sewer, not a single trap.

In older Arvada neighborhoods that main line is frequently the cause, and clearing it from a fixture only buys time. When we see a main-line pattern we recommend putting a camera down it so the fix addresses whatever is actually in the pipe.

Older cast iron under Arvada, and what it does to drains

A lot of Arvada housing from the mid-century has cast-iron drain lines. Over decades the inside of cast iron gets rough and scaled, and that rough surface grabs grease, paper and debris that would slide through smooth PVC. So the same habits that never clog a newer west Arvada home will clog a 1970s ranch on a regular basis.

That is worth knowing before you assume you are doing something wrong in the kitchen. On rough old pipe the honest options are periodic maintenance cleaning or, when the line is badly deteriorated, replacing that section. We tell you which one your pipe actually needs.

Drain Cleaning: common questions

Why does the same drain keep clogging?

A drain that clogs on a schedule has an underlying cause: grease coating a kitchen line, a rough old cast-iron pipe that grabs debris, a belly that holds water, or roots in the main. Clearing it again treats the symptom. A camera inspection finds the reason so the next fix is the last one.

Is a chemical drain cleaner a good idea?

We do not recommend them. Store drain chemicals often fail to clear a real blockage, sit in the trap generating heat, and can damage older pipe and fixtures. Mechanical clearing, cabling or jetting, removes the actual obstruction without cooking your pipes.

How much does drain cleaning cost in Arvada?

A single accessible fixture drain is priced at the low end. A main-line clearing, a drain that needs to be accessed through a cleanout, or a jetting job costs more. We quote after knowing which drain and how it is accessed, with ranges rather than a flat phone price.

Should I snake it or jet it?

Snaking, or cabling, punches through a clog and is right for a one-off blockage or a hair-bound tub. Jetting scours the full pipe wall with high-pressure water and is right for grease-loaded kitchen lines and recurring main-line buildup. For a drain that clogs repeatedly, jetting usually solves what snaking only postpones.

Are your drain technicians licensed?

Yes. Drain work is performed by licensed, insured Colorado plumbers who can also diagnose the cause, not just clear the clog. License details are available on request.
